Bairro da Bouça is an affordable housing project located in one of the prime residential areas of Oporto, designed by Alvaro Siza Vieira, buildings started in the mid 1970’s. Intended for poor families, this is a work born out of the community's desire for dignified dwellings and is the work of one of the most respected contemporary architects. An "unfinished", neighbourhood whose origins dates back to the Carnation Revolution, and where residents have actively participated in the design and implementation of the project. Three decades later, they´re preparing to welcome new neighbours.
