EAST TIMOR -SECRET WAR IN 2001 - There was a secret war raging in East Timor between Australian peacekeepers and Indonesian Special Forces troops masquerading as Militia. Two former Australian soldiers who survived a grenade attack by Militiamen, on the Indonesian/ East Timor border in 2001, tell their story. “Pete,” talks about his battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Pete’s comrade, Scott Sherwin reveals they were treated as outcasts by the Australian government because the true details about the firefight could have disrupted sensitive diplomatic relations with Indonesia. Australian and New Zealand Peacekeepers were sent in 1999 when East Timor declared independence from Indonesia. They came under fire from pro-Indonesian groups as an act of revenge.
