Synopsis
The war correspondent tells the history of the beginning of the character of the war correspondent: William Howard Russel, a journalist from the newspaper Times, that covered the Crimea war in 1854-1856 for the Times newspaper. He is considered to be the first war correspondent of our times. And he appeared at the same time as the invention of pictorial journalism: newspaper illustrated with drawings and engravings. It was the beginning of journalism for the masses. But in The war correspondent, the objective of the film, is mainly, to do a critique and reflection on how war has been representated in images, and as been used to entertain populations, as action narratives, very far away from the true signifyer of what war really means.
