Synopsis
In 1958, the 6 year old Frits Sahertian witnesses a terrifying shooting, six Moluccans are shot by the Dutch police force in the Moluccan Barracks in Westkapelle, a village in the south of the Netherlands. This event will determine the rest of his life. Frits arrived in the Netherlands in 1952, his family being part of a group of 1200 Moluccan service men and their families that were forced to leave Indonesia after it became independent of the Netherlands. The Moluccan service men were part of the occupying Dutch army in Indonesia. After a life filled with violent struggle for independence for the Molucca Islands, a group of islands east of the Indonesian archipelago, he now tries to find out what exactly happened in Westkapelle 50 years ago.
