Synopsis
Hortobágy. It is Hungary and at the same time Central Europe's largest puszta, which was
naturally destined to be a place for animal husbandry and shepherding. The conquering ancestors of hungarians established themselves eagerly on this plain country, which is eminently suitable for livestock production, and since then this landscape has been the herders’ well-renowned realm. With lesser or greater interruptions more than a thousand year-old world of the Hortobágy herder exists in part even today, but the herders’ life in the old times, particularly after the Second World War lives on only in the aged herders’ memories.
