Synopsis
The film tells the story of elderly Italian migrant workers who arrived in Montreal between 1950 and 1960, to marry or to reunite with a fiancée they met in Italy. They all came from poor villages from the South of Italy to become married men and women, turning from young people into adults, and also from farmers into workers. We hear of their farewells to their families and to their village, of the work-related problems when they arrived in Montreal, of happy and sad weddings. Each story is brought to life with the help of rare and beautiful archive images from the South of Italy as well as from Canada. For every character, a traditional music theme from the South of Italy has been chosen, whose words help to rebuild their story, memories and imagery.
