Two years ago, during a trip to Eastern Europe, I stopped in Romania. Since then I have returned regularly. I had met Ciprian. He had immigrated to Belgium before his country entered the European Union. For the first time since this important change, we retook the road to Romania to visit his family. On the way we had met hitchhikers. They told us about their Romania, but also of their image of the West. In this filmed diary, I attempt to ask myself, to ask them, and to ask of us about the future of our societies and on the possible “middle” between East and West.
