Synopsis
Noma Dojo* is one of the oldest and largest privately owned wooden Kendo* practice halls in Japan. Founded by Noma Seiji, the first president of the Kodansha Publishing Company in 1925, the Dojo served to bring together the various disparate schools of Kendo and after the war became a Mecca for thousands of international Kendo practitioners. The graceful, serene wooden structure and the floors built on steel springs to prevent injury make the Dojo a unique and valuable cultural asset. However, Kodansha announced that they planned to tear the Dojo down. *Kendo: One of the traditional Japanese martial arts with using a bamboo sword. *Dojo: The place of training and match for martial arts.
