Synopsis
During a traveling journey in India I stepped into the stories of the S.E.W.A. associates. Women and life stories I couldn’t let go beside, in a matter of one day I organize the beginning of the shooting.
S.E.W.A. (Self Emplyed Women’s Association) is the biggest union for informal women workers in India, such as, bidi makers, carpenters, paper pickers, vegetables street seller, head loaders.. The informal economy totals the 93% of the national indian economy.
The documentary follows the story of this established grassroot movement organized in a unhierarchical and truly democratic manner, seldomly encoutered in western countries today, at least in the country where I live and work, Italy.
