Wirikuta is a sacred desert, the destination of the pilgrimage of the Wixárika people. This pilgrimage is one of their most important rituals. Wirikuta is now under threat because mining concessions have been granted to the First Majestic Silver & Revolution Resources Corp., to exploit gold and silver in this region., February 2013. Wixárica communities gather in ceremony against the mining industries, in defence of the sacred land. In this documentary film we listen to their voices and follow the ceremony from the rainy dusk until the flourishing of dawn, as different rituals are taking place and the world is reinterpreted through ceremony. Together, the musicians, the Marakames (Wixárica shamans), the women, the sacrifices, the sacred medicine, and 'grandfather fire' express the cosmology of a people rooted in practice.
