For people of the Belarusian city Gomel the homeless blue-eyed old man who paints “pictures” is a local attraction. For art critics he is a phenomenon worth close attention, a serious and original artist. The film covers a year of life of the artist Valery Liashkevich who lives not like others. At first sight he seems an eccentric person. But at a closer look we may see more sense in his search for harmony than in peoples’ pursuit of illusive wealth. Behind the film hero’s outer fortitude and sturdiness, one may discern a drama of an extremely lonely person. Seasons change, people and fates pass by, but his life stands still at “a crossroads”.
