Teenagers are watching a video on internet while videotaping their own reactions. Fragments after fragments, this loose community express their comments and witness a deep trouble in a ever more invading off-camera space. We are caught between two images: the missing one being watched and the image of the spectator. This ultra thin angle opens a breach on the multiple dimensions of dismay. « Its a glimpse into the horror that strokes the world » will be the conclusion of one of the teenagers. Each video shows an adolescent recording his/her reactions while watching on You Tube an authentic murder., As spectators, we do not have access to the original crime scene but only to the reactions it has elicited., The artistic approach resides in alternating horrified facial expressions with pathetic re-enactments (eg the beating of teddy-bears, which appears as repetitive theme) and declarations delivered with the emotion of court testimonies., In a few seconds, the morbid curiosity is shifting to guiltiness. This evokes an initiation ritual to cross the gates of adulthood., Alternatively, these are more likely the gates leading to the circles of Hell which we are crossing without noticing nor willing, as one of the kids is concluding: this is a small outlook of the horror which hits the world., The film shows in a disconcerting way how our identity is building up in reaction to the image which society is reflecting of ourselves, but also through the experience of re-playing traumatizing events (...)
