Deeply rooted in our contemporary urban culture, Graffiti dixit art portrays black American artist Lin Felton, better known under the name of Quik within the graffiti community. Quik was undoubtedly one of the founding artists of the Graffiti movement appeared in New York in the late 60's and which is the origin of Street Art culture we know today worldwide. This unique artistic movement of its kind has the distinction of being born under the impulse of children. Driven by a need for recognition, they invested subway cars always more masterly writing their name. A new culture was born, which would soon join the ranks of mass culture. Combining U.S. archives and market art images, Graffiti dixit art traces the long history of Graffiti and questions the place of a nonconformist movement driven by the popular classes within the world of contemporary art.
