Sinopse
For 20 years we have talked about cutting down carbon emissions and to curb global warming. But the CO2-emissions have never been higher in the history of mankind. And the multi billion carbon credit market have collapsed. Since the first carbon credit went for sale it has never been cheaper to pollute than today. One of the ideas was that the rich countries should buy carbon credits in the poor countries. It all looks good in the official documents, but what happens when an investigative film crew turns up on the scene in Bangladesh or Kenya?. The carbon market have also been exposed to massive theft and fraud. According to Europol the fraud exceeded more than 5 billion Euro anually. One of the most intensive frauds was a V.A.T.- carousel where several European countries was exposed to a fraud hardly seen before. A total lack of security and identity control made it very easy for the crooks. And in the Czech Republic the national carbon registry was lured by a telephone bomb. The office building was evacuated and when the officials came back the Czech registry were gone. Within minutes the carbon credits were transferred to several countries and finally sold in Germany. Back in the EU-Commission the 10 billion carbon credits are registered. Each credit has a unique serial number and the EU Commission can easily track the previously stolen carbon credits. But they can’t reveal where the stolen credits are located., It’s against the law, they say.
