Hoshiyar who has been known as Hoshiyar the deminer, is a man famous in Kurdistan for cleaning more than 2 million mines. He has lost both his legs due to cleaning the lands from mine, lost his first leg when he was cleaning the lands in 1989, and then again in 1994 lost his second leg. Hoshiyar Says “I have lost both my legs and I am ready to lose my both hands and sight to clean the lands from mine.” Mine is still everywhere in Kurdistan and individual lives are lost due to this and unfortunately when we were busy making this documentary we lost a family member killed by mine.
