Utopia on the Horizon provides a dramatic portrait of a country veering on the brink of collapse, and the people who chose to struggle in order to build a new world on the ruins of the old. It tells the story of three Greek activists and WWII resistance hero Manolis Glezos as they reflect back upon the anti-austerity protests and the occupation of Syntagma Square in May and June 2011. Syntagma's experiment with direct democracy not only changed the lives of its participants, but also provided a glimpse of utopia in the midst of a devastating financial, political and social crisis.
