Four young men from four different countries (the USA, Russia, France and Israel) are on the eve of their army enlistment. The film follows the four recruits through the various farewell ceremonies to the transition, creating a poetic and intimate dialogue between those who have chosen to serve and those for whom the decision is made by others. The individual stories unveil charged personal emotions that accompany the young men on their path to the army, played out against the social, economic and political systems that affect their readiness for personal sacrifice.
