Sinopse
The film follows the activities surrounding the yearly celebrations that are held in Vratsa, Northwest Bulgaria in commemoration of the end of 500 years Ottoman rule. These days are named after Hristo Botev; the national hero, poet and writer, who was shot in 1876 on a mountain top near Vratsa. He appears everywhere; the school, the football club and the main square are named after him. But in fact all these festivities are not that important. What really matters is how his fight for freedom is relived nowadays. Like anywhere a just cause becomes questionable in the hands of authority. But the Bulgarians are a stubborn kind and stick to their own, personal interpretation of the national identity. The film is a playful portrait of this spirit of independence and determination, and shows the pride and imagination of Vratsa's citizens.
