We soon realized that, during those conversations, something really special was going on: the words spoken by the African started to ooze a striking common sense about our ways of behaving in our Western society. He would speak from an inner human axis, able to express itself with an overwhelming forcefulness about us and about our manners. When the conversation would take off, we would remain dumbfounded. His vision and points of view acquired such a force that we could only recognize this and remain quiet. We wanted to hunt that. And we used the camera as a privileged listening–tool before this fountain–word.
