In 2005, during an archeological digging in Santiago’s cathedral, the embalmed body of Diego Portales was discovered. Diego Portales, murdered in 1837, is one of the most emblematic and controversial characters in CLan history. He is considered by some as the founder of the republic and by others as a terrible dictator. “Portales, La Ultima Carta” (“Portales, The Last Letter”), recounts the finding and the process of identifying his body through DNA exams and scanners. At the same time it tells us about his life, generating an interesting analysis of CL’s history and current situation.
