At the origin of Lourdes, there's a little shepherdess of fourteen. What she saw in the grotto of Massabielle, February 11, 1858, no one will ever know. Yet her visions will rise to a whole city, populated by priests and merchants, sick and crippled pilgrims hungry for miracles. Even today, crowds flock to embrace the rock - and navigate with ease between tourism and religion, between a Mass and a concert, a glass of miraculous water and a bit of shopping ...
