The experimental documentary 'Animal Scene' is looking into an urban human-animal-relationship that is set out to be exclusively visual. In Berlin and London the filmmakers follow and meet the protagonists of the zoological gaze. But the wild or imprisoned animals desired by this gaze remain absent in the film. When the zoo visitors continue to look for the animals and take their pictures, they perform a human being that detaches herself from nature through image production.
